MechCorp

MechCorp is my one man passion project trying to make a turn-based tactic game with a strategic layer and rogue-like element. Imagine it as a mixed of F.T.L. and X-Com, with mechs.

In MechCorp, you are a commander of a galactic mercenary outfit, working for cold hard credits. You will be given control of squadron of battle mechs and a ship with crew. You will make the decision on every aspect of the squad including squad setup, research and production, crew management and of course what to do in all the event. It's your job to make sure that the squad are in shape to handle all the challenge coming your way and more importantly, take on various paying contracts.

Key Features:
  • Explore and encounter random event in randomized world, each play-through is different
  • 18 type of mechs from 3 base classes with unique class abilities.
  • Customize the mechs with different weapon and item to suite your tactical need.
  • No second chance, each decision is permanent, destroyed unit are permanently lost.
  • Research techs and build your mechs and equipment to survive your adventure.
  • Manage your crew to maximize the effectiveness of your squad.

    1. Thanks for purchasing TBTK and I'm glad you enjoy it.

MechCorp is not a toolkit. It's intended to be a stand-alone retail game. Wont be available for sale anytime soon though. :)

  2. Hey! Are you willing to share how you did your "galaxy map"? :)

    1. Well, I think it's pretty obvious how it's done. The stars are particle-system with collider on them to detect any mouse click. They are positioned on the horizontal plane with a 2D space background below them while the camera uses a top down view.

  3. Hey, I see you have unique equipment loadouts. Does the TBTK support that, or is it a custom feature you've added?

Was looking at TBTK and wondering about whether individual skill trees and equipment could be assigned to different units for progression through a campaign.

    1. The loadouts are additional feature I added for MechCorp. It's by default not available in TBTK.

There isn't a individual skill trees in TBTK. However there's a collective perk system that can be used to achieve almost the same effect. But since it's a collective perk system for whole faction, it is going to be quite different in certain aspect.

    1. No, MechCorp is not a kit. It a full fledged game.

TurnBased-ToolKit on the other hand, is a kit. However it only supports hot-seat multiplayer.

  5. Hi, Song!

I'm looking into using TBTK for a project of my own. However, I do want to expand it to allow online multiplayer. Do you foresee there being any extra difficulties due to TBTK, such as compatibility issues or accessibility of some variables?

    1. Honestly, I can't say. I have next to none experience and know how when it comes to network coding. I would love to look into the possibility of supporting network multiplayer one day. However I don't think that will happen anytime soon as I've got plenty to do at the moment.

  7. Hey Song,

Looking into getting TBTK for Unity but had some questions regarding how customizable it is. I'm looking to a game that's a hybrid of a couple genres, and I'd assume there's going to be a need for some custom scripting to make things work. This will be my first game period. I'm alright in Unity, but wanted to know if there's a way to find some contact info for you to talk more about what I'm wanting to pull of using this system.

    Thanks!
